Questions about Jawline Contouring? Here are the answers!
Hyaluronic acid is an endogenous substance. Chemically speaking, hyaluronic acid is a chain of sugar molecules with the property of binding water. In anti-aging, hyaluronic acid is used against wrinkles because it can bind about 6000 times more water than its own weight, so 1 gram of hyaluronic acid can bind 6 litres of water. In the human body, most hyaluronic acid is stored in the skin, where it holds the cells together. It is also found in joints and in the eyes.
From the age of 25 onwards, the body’s own production of hyaluronic acid decreases. At the age of 60, only 10% of the initial hyaluronic acid level can be detected in the body.
A hyaluron filler is very well suited to treat nasolabial folds, puppet wrinkles, hollow cheeks, tear duct and chin line. Furthermore, hyaluron is used to build up the chin, to increase the volume of the lips and to rejuvenate the skin on the neck and neckline. Hyaluronic acid is used at Dermacare especially for the so-called vampire lift, where the patient’s own blood plasma is taken and then reinjected into the skin in combination with hyaluronic acid. This smoothes and tightens the skin for a youthful appearance.
Botox is a liquid protein that is used to relax certain muscles that contribute to the formation of wrinkles. This results in less wrinkling. The substance is injected directly into the muscle that causes the wrinkles. The effect decreases after 4 to 6 months.
A Hayluronic acid filler is a natural gel-like substance that is injected into or under the skin. Due to its water-binding capacity, it increases the volume of the tissue and thus reduces wrinkles or smoothes the skin. Depending on the substance used, the substance is broken down by the body between 9 months and 24 months.
We use only the highest quality hyaluronic acid from the world’s most renowned manufacturers, whose substances contain lidocaine. While injecting the hyaluronic acid with a very thin injection needle, the active ingredient Lidocaine anaesthetizes the tissue and thus makes the treatment painless.
The treatment with hyaluronic acid fillers aims at the cushioning effect that the preparation produces when used correctly. In addition, hyaluronic acid binds liquid and causes hydration, the moisture balance of the skin and lips is refreshed in this way, leaving them plump and fresh.
Blood-thinning medications such as (e.g. aspirin or ibuprofen) should be discontinued a few days before treatment with hyaluronic acid fillers if possible, as they promote the formation of haematomas (bruises). If haematomas do occur, they will disappear completely after a few days (about 5-7).
If you have a known tendency to herpes, taking herpes tablets can be useful prophylactically.
Physical protection is necessary after a treatment. Therefore, extreme physical exertion such as sports, sauna and solarium is not recommended for three to five days, depending on the extent of the treatment. After that you can be used again without any restrictions.
During the first week you should not expose yourself to intensive sunlight.
After the treatment, the skin bulges slightly upwards, which disappears by itself within one or two days. A small, swollen redness may appear at the injection site, which usually disappears within a day. On the lips, the swelling may remain a little longer.
Although physical rest is recommended, it is still possible to do your daily activities.
Depending on the region to be treated, a treatment takes about 10 to 30 minutes. If a consultation is required beforehand, you should plan on spending about an hour with us. Our doctors take their time to give you detailed advice and make the treatment as pleasant as possible.
The tolerance of hyaluronic acid is exceptionally good, but since every intervention in the human body carries risks, the possible side effects range from common reactions such as redness and swelling to very rare complications such as the occlusion of a blood vessel or an allergic reaction. Therefore, treatment with hyaluronan filler should always be carried out by an experienced physician who is aware of possible risks and side effects and can react to them if necessary.
Frequent side effects are pain due to the insertion of the needle, feelings of tension, itching, swelling of the lips (after treatment of the lips with hyaluron) and bruising, which disappears within a few days.
Rarely, there are circulatory problems, infections at the injection site and a displacement and nodulation of the injected substance.
Treatment with a hyaluronan filler (this includes lip correction with hyaluronic acid) should be avoided if one of the following points applies:
Hyaluronic acid has the advantage that it can be dissolved with the enzyme hylase. If you are dissatisfied with the results of a previous lip correction, or if residues of a previous treatment are to be removed, make an appointment for a consultation. Even if nodules have formed, they can either be dissolved or massaged out.
On the day of treatment, you will stay in our institute for about 1.5 hours. The actual treatment will take about 30 to 45 minutes and a local anesthetic cream will be applied beforehand, which must be left on for 20 minutes.
On the first day after the treatment, the swelling, which starts shortly after the treatment, is the strongest. The occurrence of bruising at and around the injection sites is not unusual. Both the swelling and the bruising will go down significantly after 1-2 days before they disappear completely (5-7 days). If desired, a medication with a decongestant effect can be prescribed.
The body should be spared for 2 days after the treatment. Sports, sauna, alcohol and blood-thinning medication such as aspirin and ibuprofen should be avoided.
For the correction of the chin line, the so-called Jawline Contouring, Dermacare uses the Ellansé Filler, which is characterised by an individually determined durability. Depending on which product is chosen – one year, two years, three years or four years shelf life – your face contour will remain unchanged for up to four years after a chin line contour at Dermacare.
An experienced physician, who uses the hyaluronic acid filler properly, will find the application of fillers a safe procedure with few side effects. As with any medical treatment, side effects and complications can never be ruled out with absolute certainty.
Since each injection results in minimal tissue trauma, reactions such as itching, swelling, redness, a slight sensitivity to pain or haematomas (bruises) may occur, which subside after a few days (5-7 days). If desired, a medication with decongestant effect can be used to support the healing process.
Since the treatment does not take more than one and a half hours and one is not physically or mentally restricted after the filler treatment, it could also be carried out during the lunch break. In principle, there is of course nothing to be said against carrying out the usual activities, as long as they do not involve great physical effort.
However, as possible swelling and bruising are most common and strongest in the first 24 hours after the treatment – and then they will subside soon – we recommend that you take some time off in the period after the treatment.
For the correction of the chin line, the so-called Jawline Contouring, Dermacare uses the Ellansé Filler, which is characterised by an individually determined durability. Depending on which product is chosen (one year, two years, three years or four years durability), your facial contour will remain unchanged for up to four years after a chin line contour with Dermacare. The higher the durability of the chosen filler, the more expensive the product or treatment in question.
