How does Botulinum Toxin work?
Mimic wrinkling is genetically determined and is caused by an overactive musculature. If botulinum toxin is injected into the muscles, it specifically inhibits the transmission of stimuli so that the corresponding muscle can no longer be tensed as usual. The relaxation of the specifically treated muscles leads to a smoothing of wrinkles without changing the normal facial expression. With targeted application, botulinum toxin (Botox) causes an inhibition of sweat gland activity and a reduction in migraine complaints.
