What is an antigen test?
The antigen rapid test can detect viral antigens directly within minutes. In this process, proteins or envelopes of the proteins of the virus are detected.
Corona+flu combination test
Influenza (usually also called flu) is a highly contagious, acute viral infection of the respiratory tract. The main source of infection is currently patients infected with the coronavirus. Common symptoms of influenza are fever, dry cough and fatigue. The symptoms are therefore similar to corona symptoms. Sometimes there is also a runny or stuffy nose, sore throat or diarrhoea. How does the testing work?
Our medical staff will take a sample from your throat with a cotton swab (throat swab) or from the nasal cavity (nasal swab). This procedure takes only a few seconds and causes no pain. The sample is then applied to a specially developed test cassette and the result appears after about 10 to 15 minutes. Can I come to Dermacare with symptoms?
Our Antigen rapid test is intended for persons without Corona symptoms. If you have fever, sore throat or shortness of breath, please call 1450 or your family doctor. You can also have the PCR gargle test collected at Dermacare.
What are the differences to the PCR test?
The antigen rapid test also directly detects SARS-CoV-2. However, a PCR test tests for the genetic material of the virus, whereas the antigen rapid test tests for a protein of the virus. The antigen rapid test does not require a laboratory and the result is available after 15 minutes. You will then receive an e-mail with a link to the result and a photo of the result.
Is the antigen test reliable?
The antigen rapid test has an accuracy of 98.98%. The test is certified and registered in Austria in the EU registry for medical devices.
