Treatment of hair loss and nail diseases
Imagine standing in front of the mirror in the morning and noticing that your hair is thinning or even bald patches are visible. Or perhaps you notice that your nails look brittle and unhealthy – they split easily, are brittle or discoloured. Such changes not only affect our external appearance, they can also shake our self-confidence and are often signs of underlying health problems.
Hair loss, brittle nails or an ingrown nail – these problems are much more than just cosmetic blemishes. They can interfere with daily life and cause pain or discomfort. However, there can be various causes behind these symptoms, from hormonal fluctuations and deficiency symptoms to genetic factors. At Dermacare Vienna, we know how distressing such situations can be and we specialise in helping you with modern and effective treatments.
But how do you find out which treatment is right for you?

Professional help for hair loss and nail diseases
Hair and nails belong to the so-called skin appendages, the growth of which is predominantly controlled by hormones. Disruptions or irregularities in the hormone balance can therefore have a direct impact on these structures and cause undesirable changes. Whilst some problems can be harmless, they can also indicate serious health problems. Abnormalities should therefore always be clarified by a doctor. At Dermacare Vienna, we offer you state-of-the-art diagnostic procedures and customised treatment approaches to optimally treat both cosmetic and medical concerns.
Hair loss: Causes and treatment options
Hair production takes place in the hair follicles under the skin. A healthy hair grows about 0.35 millimetres per day over a period of two to seven years. At the end of the growth phase, the hair falls out after a resting phase of around three weeks and a new hair begins to grow. This process affects 60 to 100 hairs a day, which is completely normal. But when does hair loss become a concern?
If hair loss is more frequent and localised, this may be a sign of hormonal disorders or other diseases. In this case, a medical examination is advisable in order to identify the causes and provide targeted treatment.
Age-related hair loss and PRP therapy
Age-related or hereditary hair loss, such as receding hairlines in men or thinning hair in women, is medically harmless, but can be a psychological burden. At Dermacare Vienna, we offer PRP autologous blood therapy, a natural method for promoting hair growth. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is extracted from the patient’s own blood by centrifugation and injected into the affected hair roots. The PRP supplies the hair follicles with important nutrients and thus stimulates hair growth. This treatment can stop hair loss in the long term and lead to a thickening of the hair.
Nail problems: Brittle nails and ingrown toenails
Changes to the nails, such as brittleness, discolouration or splitting, can indicate impaired keratin formation. This is often triggered by mineral deficiencies, hormonal fluctuations or other underlying illnesses. Here too, an examination by a dermatologist is important in order to clarify the cause and develop suitable treatment approaches.
Ingrown toenail: Causes and treatment
An ingrown toenail is often caused by incorrect nail trimming, shoes that are too tight or a congenitally narrow nail bed. If the nail penetrates the skin, this can lead to painful inflammation that can only be permanently treated by a doctor. At Dermacare Vienna, we offer gentle and minimally invasive procedures to treat ingrown nails and promote healing.
